Refining & Brainstorming

This week, I did more refinements to my visual system. Based on feedback from the instructor, I refined and did the following concepts:

  1. Draw over top of black and white image using marker drawing style; Rockwell + trace a letter or two in Rockwell using marker & put line work similar to marker style icons

  2. Black and white image that’s masked with rough/hard edges (like a photo that’s been cut out with scissors); Matthew-style crayon drawings of the background (e.g. hand pouring tea, tea coming from teapot into cup, steam, table, etc.); Rockwell + crayon handwriting mix

  3. Rockwell letters in scattered but readable composition; colorful, Matthew line style drawings overlapping

  4. Rockwell letters in scattered but readable composition; colorful, marker style drawings overlapping

In addition, I refined my logos based on instructor feedback as follows:

  1. Write “rethink” using crayon and Matthew’s writing + add color; place over top “PLAYTIME” in Rockwell at angle

  2. Trace “RETHINK” in Rockwell using marker and add line pattern present in marker drawing style + add color; place over top “PLAYTIME” in Rockwell at angle

To achieve these concepts, I had to emulate my son’s handwriting/drawing. To do this, I bought a tracing pad, and used my left hand to draw the illustrations. After drawing, I scanned them in to impose them onto my digital comps.

This week, I also started on the UX assignment for the Brainstorming Functionality and refined my User Flow Chart based on the brainstorming assignment.

For Module 5, I plan to have my visual system and identity approved so that I can continue moving forward with the build-out of my website and other deliverables.
