Refinements in the Making
For Module 3, I did quite a bit of work. I created my digital roughs of the seven ideas for a visual system (using the Toy Page as a foundation for the design), as well as the companion logos. One logo took me roughly three hours to complete. I also pulled some examples of photos that I could possibly purchase or have photos taken to be used for the visual system. I was able to include my son into the process to help with the illustrations and art for the digital comps of the Toy page. Working with him was a challenge, which I already expected to encounter. His attention span was short and his interest was hard to keep.
This week, I also refined my color choices and typefaces. Based on feedback from the instructor last week, I narrowed down my font choices to slab serifs Archer and Rockwell; sans serifs Avenir and Gotham; a script font, Selfie; and of course adding Matthew’s handwriting to the list. Also, I was able to involve my son and get him to write a out RETHINK PLAYTIME for me to include it into the logo comps.
I am having a hard time deciding on my color palette, as all of them look really good and work well in the visual system. For my typefaces, I am leaning more towards Rockwell and Avenir, with a small inclusion of Matthew’s handwriting.
For my UX Assignment portion, I created an additional journey map based on the instructor’s feedback; I refined my first journal entry and made a digital draft; and I created a user-flow chart based on my first journey map.
