Refinements / Packages / Wireframes

Continued refinement and sketches were made to the Visual Guidelines Book, Visual Language, and the package design.

This week, I included new rough sketches for the Swag Items and Uniforms for the next set of deliverables that need to be designed.

In addition, I designed 3 different layouts for the wireframes for the Home Page, Toy Page, and Event Calendar. To user-test, I was able to get 3 participants to give their input on which concept they like and why. I decided at the last minute to use the A&B method to user-test. The results of the user testing are included in the Thesis Development document below.

My box that I am using as inspiration and foundation for my packaging design is clear plastic with just a cardboard wrap that goes along the inside bottom. The cardboard design is about 3 inches high. But the clear part is what I have to consider when I am designing my packaging. I have to figure out how I can "print" the design onto the clear plastic part (concept 1). The best solution that I had was to comp the design in Photoshop, instead of actually trying to physically produce it.

Concept 2 is to create a white box and have the visual language implemented and integrated onto it. But as I am looking at the box right now, I feel that having a white box may be too white...? Looking at this box, it is very limited on info (it just has the basics - what the toy is, what it includes, the logo...and that's it). But I think for my thesis, I may want to add more... especially the tag line, and just a snippet of the mission statement.. So I think if I use the white box idea, I would be able to include more information that will be beneficial to the topic. It does have a price on it too... so I will have to make a spot for that.

Structurally, I think the box will be able to accommodate the visual language that I have in place for the brand. I think if I kept the clear plastic, the visual language will definitely work. I am having a hard time visualizing how it will look with the white box though. Structurally, it should work with the visual language, but I fear it being too much white space.
